1.Tell us about yourself, your family, your occupation, hobbies/interests. I am 29 years old ā married to my rockstar wife Anna Marie. We have 3 kiddos, Valerie (4) Arthur (2) Marissa (8 months), and a dog Humphrey. I am an Investment Advisor and Financial planner With Bankers Life Securities and when Iām not with clients Iām attempting to golf, workout or hang out with the wife and kids. 2. When do you start CrossFitting? Why did you start? Why do you continue now? I started January of 2020. I was struggling to hold myself accountable to working out consistently and thought it was cool how Anna would look forward to the workout ahead of time . Figured I would give it a go and really have enjoyed it. I continue for the same reason I started- accountability and positive peer pressure!!!! 3. Do you remember your first WOD? What were your thoughts after your first WOD? I do not remember it at all ā but⦠I do remember how fun it was working out in the group and seeing the competitive nature of the box! 4. What do you enjoy most about CrossFit? Camaraderie, Accountability and variety. I love the constant Flux of workouts and styles from the programmers. 5. What is your proudest CrossFit moment? Iād say finishing Murph with a weighted vest was pretty exciting for me. 6. What is your favorite movement or lift? What is your least favorite? Canāt stand Over Head Squatā¦. I really love the bodyweight movements, strict press and the clean. 7. Have you had one or two challenging CrossFit goals that you've achieved recently? What are your current goals and how close are you to reaching them? Not recently.. Iāve been recovering from a back injury- so I guess lately itās been about trying to get back into the game. Itās always tough restarting after a few weeks/month off. As of right now itās about rebuilding the strength I have lost and getting back to my status quo by 1/1/23 8. What makes CrossFit different from other fitness programs that you might have tried in the past? I have done a lot of different workout programs throughout the years. Each has its pros and cons. The thing that always annoyed me was how long they took to do. I believe Cross Fit is highly effective for the individual who wants to maintain strength and endurance without having to spend multiple hours in the gym daily. I think for me, itās just a matter of realizing what my fitness goals are right now and knowing that CrossFit helps me accomplish those most effectively. 9. What impact has CrossFit Benedictus had on your life, in and out of the gym? 1 more rep baby!! Just get one more rep.. Be Urgent ā be focused ā be calm 10. Tell us about your nutrition and how it has changed, if any, since starting CrossFit? I try to fast on the mornings I donāt workout and eat high levels of protein on the days I do. Itās a perfect planā¦ā¦.. until someone breaks out the bag of chips šš¤£š 11. If you could write a WOD for the classes to do, what would it look like? Team wod for time: 30 min cap 800 meter sprint ā team together 150 pull-ups 75 sand bag tosses( over barbell) 100 pull-ups 75 sand bag tosses ( over barbell) 50 pull-ups 75 sand bag tosses ( over barbell) 800 meter sprint 12. What advice do you have for others about the importance of the dedication of taking care of yourself, of investing in yourself? Play the infinite game. There is times to sprint but 80% of health and fitness is a marathon. My personality struggles with this as I am a go or no go person. The tortoise and the rabbit. The tortoise always wins. 13. What advice would you give to someone new to CrossFit or who is thinking about giving it a try? If you are 100% happy with your health, physique, endurance and strength, Just keep doing what youāre doing. Otherwise⦠stop sitting on the sidelines of fitness speculating on which program is better or worse. That right is reserved for those of us actually doing it. Just do it. Just go! 14.
